WP2 – Energy Storage Systems

This Work Package (WP) aims to study the best energy storage technology to be used within the AUTENS paradigm. The availability of local energy-storage systems is one of the enabling keys for the realization of the project. The most advanced electrochemical technologies (lithium and sodium-nickel-halide batteries) will be applied to the realization of the storage system. Battery management systems with innovative functions will monitor and control the battery. Sophisticated optimization algorithms will allow the integration of the storage system in the energy production/distribution/storage architecture that stands as one of the most innovative achievements of the project. Future and promising components based on the phase-changing material technologies will also be studied.  

This WP is led by Roberto Saletti. It includes 7 faculty members and a number of PhD/post-doc students from the following departments
